Making Tom and Jane

Last year, presentations in Global Village started like "My country has X population, and Y is the capital". Actually it was lot of work, and students made great presentations.

BUT

Our audience felt it was too much information.

"Feed us with spoon not excavator!!"

So this year we are changing that...

Imagine that Tom and Jane, two Czech students, were suddenly brought to your country.

What would happen to them?
Where Would they go?
What would they do?
Who would they meet?

Now things are becoming interesting, right?

Put some pictures of places in your country.

You just narrate their story. Make a story with the help of Powerpoint on the adventures they had in your country. It's just 10 minutes. It will be so easy.

You might be wondering, how are we supposed to make a story about them when we have never even seen them.

"Definitely not Tom"

Well we are in the process of making the pictures of Tom and Jane. After that we'll give you (the presentation makers) the pictures as a template so that you can use it.

Suppose this is Tom and Jane's picture.
(Warning: they're NOT!)

and this is "Your country"

Viola! "Um..This is the picture of Tom and Jane in the Alps, where they summerskied."

Don't be afraid of Photoshopping you don't have to put lots of pictures like this. Plus the pictures will come as cropped, so you'll just put them in the front, and that's it.

And when we make Tom and Jane's pictures we'll have several variations. Also we will consider your request.

Tip:
  • Be as creative as possible. You're doing it to have fun, it's not a homework.
  • If you want you can send them to different times to show the history/significant events in your country.
  • You can put dialogues between the characters, include new characters.
  • We organizers can help you with additional storylines after you show us your story. We will see and discuss possible improvements on the presentation to make it coherent with the other presentations.
  • If you are out of ideas: STEAL from the movies! You can get away with it if you say it's a parody.

On the other hand, they are just young students so keep it PG-13 on sex and violence!

The place

We organize Global Village in two places.
